WINTERVILLE – Mr. Albert Louis “Bert” Singleton, Jr., 44, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. A private entombment will be held at the columbarium at St. James.
Bert, son of Albert Louis and Nancy Kesler Singleton, was a native and lifelong resident of Greenville. He was a graduate of both J.H. Rose High School, and North Carolina State University. For more than 20 years, he worked for Hatteras Hammocks in several capacities and was most recently regional sales manager. A lifetime member of St. James United Methodist Church, Bert served in usher ministry and was a member of the Explorers Sunday school class.
An avid sports fan, Bert enjoyed playing basketball, racquetball, and tennis. His love for sports continued in his serving as coach of his children’s softball, soccer, and basketball teams. He had a great love of music playing both piano and trumpet. In addition, he was an avid reader as well as a successful crossword puzzle solver.
At the center of his life was his family. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his: wife, Dawn Henderson Singleton; twin children, Albert Louis Singleton, III “Trey”, and Kesler Dale Singleton, of the home; parents, Albert Louis Singleton, Sr. and wife, Nancy, of Greenville; sister, Sally S. Swanson and husband, Gary, of Charlotte; brother, Ben Singleton and wife, Kelly, of Raleigh; in-laws, Jim and Joy Henderson, of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
