Kathleen Cahoon Whitley

Mrs. Kathleen Cahoon Whitley, age 94 a resident of 24671 US Hwy 264 East Pantego, N.C. died Saturday December 22, 2007 at Britthaven Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday December 26, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Rev. Doug Stokes and Rev. Jim Bussell. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington. Jeff Vreugdenhil, Paul LeSieur, Oran Benson, Guire Cahoon, Jimmie Coltrain and Van Daw will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Whitley was born in Hyde County on December 3, 1913 daughter of the late Abram Cahoon and the late Mary Kathleen “Katie” Swindell Cahoon. She graduated from Hyde County Schools. Mrs. Kathleen married Hallet Ward Whitley on June 20, 1936 who preceded her in death on January 19, 1972. She was a homemaker, a member of Pantego Christian Church, and a former member of the Belhaven Eastern Star and was active in a local Rook Club, where she enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include a daughter: Ann W. Paul and her husband Dr. Nicholas L. Paul of Garner; a brother: Joshua Cahoon of Norfolk, VA and his wife Winfred; a sister: Grace Spencer and her husband Warren of Swan Quarter; two granddaughters: Joanne Lesieur and her husband Paul of Raleigh and Laurie Vreugdenhil and her husband Jeff of Clinton and three great granddaughters: Brittany LeSieur, Morgan LeSieur and Alexandria Vreugdenhil. Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by two brothers: Charlie Cahoon and Ray Cahoon and a sister: Elizabeth Harris.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday December 26, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
