Mrs. Nelda Cullipher Cooper, 76, a former resident of 114 Lawson Road, Washington died Sunday December 23, 2007 at Britthaven Nursing Home of Washington.
A graveside funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday December 26, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 23, 1931 daughter of the late John Abram Cullipher Sr. and the late Annie Mae Gibson Cullipher. She was a 1950 graduate of the former Pantego High School. Mrs. Nelda married Carlton Beverly “C.B.” Cooper on Dec. 29, 1950 who survives. She worked with the Beaufort County Register of Deeds and was the assistant register of deeds at the time of her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the First Baptist Church of Washington.
Surviving along with her husband C.B. of Washington are two sons: Carlton Beverly Cooper, Jr. of Raleigh and Gregory Marion Cooper of Bath, a sister: Viola C. Alligood of Washington and four grandchildren. Mrs. Nelda was preceded in death by three brothers: John A. Cullipher Jr, Linwood L. Cullipher and Ernest N. Cullipher and three sisters: Mary Ruth Windley, Annie Mae Cullipher and Helen Cullipher.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday December 26, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of her husband 64 Neck Rd. Apt 5 Washington, NC.
