Mrs. Violet Ambrose Woodley, 83, of Creswell, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Scuppernong Church of Christ, with pastor Cleve Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Woodley was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Washington County, daughter of Herbert E. and Natalie Norman, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie R. Phelps; son, Charlie H. Phelps; and brothers, Roy Ambrose and William Ambrose. Mrs. Woodley was a homemaker and member of Scuppernong Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, William Hanson Woodley of Creswell; three daughters, Betty P. Makua of Hilo, Hawaii, Jackie P. Smith of Kempton, Indiana, and Kathy L. Phelps of Aurora; a sister, Judy A. Goodman of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Scuppernong Church of Christ and other times at the residence.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
