Mr. Charlie “Dale” Lewis, age 71, a resident of the Campbell’s Creek community, Aurora, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Pastor Claude Nethercutt. Burial will follow in Lewis family cemetery, Campbell’s Creek community, Aurora.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Curtis Jones, Dr. Fred Knowles, Edward Lewis, Raymond Rogers, Frank Sadler, and Rodney Woolard.
Mr. Lewis was born in Campbell’s Creek on July 26, 1936. He was the son of the late Raleigh Lewis and Meta Powers Lewis. Mr. Lewis was retired General Foreman of Phosphoric Acid at PCS. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Lewis attended Campbell’s Creek United Methodist Church.
On August 23, 1982, Mr. Lewis married the former Patricia Williams, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Penney Lewis of Clayton, Kathy Lewis Jones and her husband, Curtis and their son, Austin Curtis Dale Jones all of Clayton; his brother, James Lewis of Campbell’s Creek; his father-in-law and mother -in-law, Phillip and Lola Williams of Pinetown; two sisters-in-laws Lynda Woolard and her husband, Rodney and Gina Rogers and her husband, Ray; his faithful canine companions, Hector and Biggs and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 1660 Vinegar Hill Road, Aurora.
