WILLIAMSTON — Mrs. Minnie Davenport Mizelle of 22485 U.S. Highway 264 East in Williamston, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, in Beaufort County Hospital following a brief illness. Minnie was born on November 2, 1919 to Creasey Frances Davenport and James Abram Davenport. She married James Riley Mizelle in December of 1941. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1992.
Minnie was a faithful member of Reddicks Grove Baptist Church and a talented seamstress and homemaker. She was dearly loved by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Minnie was preceded in death by a son, James Allen “Buddy” Mizelle; a daughter, Judy M. Hardison; a sister, Josephine White and brothers, Elbert Davenport, Randy Davenport, Joe Davenport and Gerald Davenport.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy M. Griffin and husband Wade of Williamston; sisters, Dorothy Davis of Newport News, Va., Alice Parker of Portsmouth, Va., Frances Colston of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; brothers, Noah Davenport of Virginia Beach, Va., Gene Davenport of Rocky Mount, N.C., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Reddicks Grove Baptist Church by Sam Bullock. Burial will be in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Friday night at Biggs Funeral Home, Williamston, N.C.
