Elsie Jones Apple, age 93, a former resident of 926 East 6th Street, Washington, NC died Sunday December 30, 2007 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday January 2, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by Pastor Travis Boyd. Pallbearers will be Guy Whitley, Jamie Jones, Doug Sullivan, Charles Hamilton, William Hamilton and Warren Hamilton.
Mrs. Apple was born in Pamlico County on September 20, 1914 daughter of the late Samuel Jones, Sr. and the late Rena Sawyer Jones. She married George Franklin Apple on April 11, 1936 who preceded her in death on August 17, 1998. Mrs. Apple was a homemaker and a member of Wanoca Presbyterian Church of Washington.
Survivors include a son: Thomas Apple and his wife Dona of Washington; two grandchildren: Teresa Hamilton and Doug Sullivan both of Washington; five great grandchildren: William Hamilton, Joni Medlin, Kathryn Hamilton, Jessica Sullivan and Warren Hamilton and three great great grandchildren: Ayden Hamilton, Marley Medlin and Liza Medlin. Mrs. Apple was preceded in death by two sisters: Lena Voliva and Lizzie Norman and four brothers: Tom Jones, Sammy Jones, Henry Jones and James Thomas Jones.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday January 1, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Thomas and Dona Apple located at 271 Swan Point Drive, Washington, NC.
