Hilliary Sexton Tetterton

Mr. Hilliary Sexton Tetterton, 86, of Plymouth, died Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth.
Born April 23, 1921 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Isoland Harrison Tetterton and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edna Hardison Tetterton; grandson, Chris Daley; brothers, Ronald Tetterton, Robert Tetterton, Floyd Tetterton and Melvin Tetterton. Mr. Tetterton was a machinist with Weyerhaeuser Corporation from 1945 to 1963. He was owner/operator of Tetterton’s Restaurant from 1963 to 1986 and was a farmer from 1986 until his retirement in 1997. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II with service on the USS Arkansas and USS New Jersey in the Pacific Theater. He was past master and member of Perseverance Lodge No. 59, The Scottish Rite and Shrine and member of First Baptist Church.
His family includes his daughter, Gina T. Wells of Plymouth, N.C.; son, Donald G. Tetterton of Creswell, N.C.; brothers, Benton Tetterton of Plymouth, N.C., Daryl Tetterton of Iowa and Marshall Tetterton of Florida; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens with full Masonic Rites. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, from 7-8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
