Woodrow Wilson Smith, Sr., 87, died Tuesday, January 1 at Pitt Memorial Hospital. Mr. Smith was born October 22, 1920 to the late Issac and Pearl Collins Smith, Sr. His wife, Marie H. Smith, and son, William F. Smith, and three brothers, Bennie, Nelson and Jack Smith also predeceased him. He was a retired Logging Supervisor with Weyerhaeuser. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW #4023.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn S. Williams of Rocky Mount; his son, Woodrow W. Smith, Jr. (Jimmy) of Roper; his brothers, Issac Smith, Jr., of Rocky Mount, Herbert W. Smith and Curtis J. Smith of Enfield; his sister, Annie P. Lewis of Nashville; and two grandsons, M. Brent Williams of Spring Hope, and Jeremy Smith and wife, Peggy of Winterville.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008 at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Hagwood. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 3 at Walker Funeral Home-Horner Chapel.
