Mrs. Blanche Spruill Davenport, 75, of Creswell, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with the Rev. William Clarke and pastor Randy Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Davenport family cemetery.
Mrs. Davenport was born in Washington County on July 1, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Fannie Leary Spruill. She was married to Abram V. Davenport Jr., who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Creswell United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Nora D. Spruill; one son, Abram V. Davenport III of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Eva Spruill and Ruby Skittlethorpe, both of Edenton; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lonnie Spruill and four sisters, Nancy Clifton, Alethia Wynn, Virginia Hurdle and Emma Meads.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, and other times at the home of her sister, Ruby Skittlethorpe, in Edenton.
