Meta Watson Cutrell, 79, of 1699 Newlands Road, Fairfield, died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at her home.
Born in Hyde County, April 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Meta Cutrell Watson. She was a member of the Fairfield Christian Church. She worked as a librarian aide and drove a school bus at O.A. Peay School in the early 1970’s. She was a loving mother and was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rufus Richard Cutrell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the family plot in Fairfield Cemetery. Mike Wheeler and James Jones will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Armstrong, Marty Armstrong, Sam Watson, James Earl Cutrell, Stevie Cutrell and Clifford Swindell.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet Eburn and her husband, Sam of Fairfield, Minnie Lou Cutrell of Swan Quarter and Martha Armstrong and her husband Doug of the Ponzer Community; a sister, Maudie Pearl Mooney of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Richard Wood and his wife, Lise of Roper, Jenna Knecht of Fairfield, Melvin Armstrong Jr. of Raleigh and Abigail A. Marshall and her husband, Brian of Greenville; a great-grandson, Tristan Shay Wood.
Mrs. Cutrell was preceded in death by five brothers, Jim Watson, Patrick Watson, Henry Watson, Harold Watson and Clifton Watson; a sister, Christine W. Singleton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service and other times at the home of Janet and Sam Eburn, 1557 Newlands Road.
