Mrs. Mary M. Keech

Mrs. Mary Midgette Keech, 88, formerly of 48 Keech Lane, Bath, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Elizabeth City.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, officiated by the Rev. David Linton, pastor Ron Bousquet and the Rev. Marty Cunningham. Burial will follow in the Bart Waters Cemetery in the Free Union community of Pinetown.
Michael Waters, Tommy Speight, Tony Rossi, James R. Waters, Jason Furcron, Ryan Furcron, Charles Speight and Thomas Mace will serve as pallbearers. Thomas Sparks, George Keech, Ronnie Keech and Richard Midgette will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Keech was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 20, 1919, daughter of Robert Blackwell Midgette, Sr., and Retha Mae Pegram Midgette, who both preceded her in death. On June 30, 1935, she married Oscar Manning Keech, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1990. Mrs. Keech later married John Scott Tyson on Jan. 16, 1993 who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Bath Church of God.
Survivors include four daughters, Daisy K. Riddick of Elizabeth City, Barbara K. Waters of Pinetown, Becky K. Waters of Pantego and Retha K. Boyd Furcron of Cookeville, Tenn.; a stepbrother, William Craddock of Roper; a stepsister, Sarah C. Credle of Scranton; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren. Mrs. Keech was preceded in death by three sons, Travis H. Keech, Oscar Franklin Keech and Bonner Earl Keech; five brothers, Robert B. Midgette, Jr., Noville Pugh, Huey Midgette, Johnny Midgette and Vernon Midgette; four sisters, Agnes M. Walls, Goldie M. Gibbs, Ina M. Thorne and Pearl M. Tingle; a stepbrother, Troy Craddock, and a stepsister, Ruth C. Radcliff.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Keech’s daughter: Barbara Waters, 519 Beaver Dam Road, Pinetown.
