Marion Lowe Tarkington, 84, of Hunters Ridge Drive, Lexington, died Saturday at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Cecil Cave.
Mrs. Tarkington was born November 9, 1923 in Ponzer, NC to Samuel Henry Lowe and Ikie Mac Spencer Lowe. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She served with the North Davidson Extension Community Association. She was a past member of Davidson County Twirlettes, as well as a past president of Forsyth Home Extension Club. She was a Silver Arts winner in literature and pine needle basket making. She was a graduate of Belhaven High School and of Raleigh School of Commerce.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years Bruce Edward Tarkington Sr. of the home; son Dr. Bruce Edward Tarkington Jr. and wife Beth of Cary, N.C.; daughter Jennifer Lowe Tarkington Parnell of Gastonia, N.C.; grandchildren Amy Owens and husband Brent of Pineville, NC, Patrice Dyckes and husband Jason of Charlotte, NC, Benjamin Edward Tarkington of Cary, NC, and a great grandchild, Parker Dyckes of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home.
