Mr. Alexander Wallace Massie Jr., 58, of 721 West Third St., Washington, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. Selby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Billy Davenport III, Michael Chapman, Richard Markland, Leon Norman, Dalton Toler and LuJack Woolard will serve as pallbearers. Dean McCall, Alton Toler and Doug Chapman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Massie was born in Staunton, Va., on Sept. 19, 1949. He was the son of the late Alexander Wallace Massie Sr. and Gladys Lessie McCartney. On Oct. 15, 1969, he married Linda Gail Norman Massie, who survives. He was self employed for many years as a painting contractor prior to his retirement in 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Massie Markland and Tammy Massie Brewer, both of Washington; one son, James Alexander Massie of Washington; two sisters, Virginia Massie Squires of Washington and Minnie Massie Lockley of Scranton.
He was preceded in death by four half brothers, Robert Earl Pinkham, David Leroy Pinkham, Linwood Ellsworth Pinkham and John Clifton Pinkham.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
