Mr. James Carroll Williams, 87, of Rt. 2, Box 111, Battleboro, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Biggs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Jamesville Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born in Martin County on June 21, 1920. He was the son of the late John Carroll Williams and Addie Lee Gardner Williams. On Oct. 31, 1940, he married Eunice Sheppard Williams, who survives. He was employed as a construction worker until his retirement.
Survivors include five daughters, Kathy Hardison of Williamston, Rita Jernigan of Colerain, Marilyn Hedgepeth of Rocky Mount, Gladys Rhodes of Bethel and Edith Hartley of New Bern; three sons, James Hilton Williams of Hamilton, Charles E. Lassiter of Jamesville and Ted Williams of Battleboro; one brother, Grover Gene Williams of Jamesville; one sister, Icelene Worthington of Washington; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at 1841 Holly Springs Church Road, Williamston.
