Bernice T. Midyette 1925-2008

Miss Bernice Temple Midyette, 82, of Hyde County and longtime resident at The Caswell Center, Kinston, N.C., died on Friday evening, January 10, 2008, at Lenoir County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lake Landing, June 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Fronie Kenney Midyette. She moved to Caswell Center in 1975 and was affectionately known as “Bunny.” She was a member of Amity United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Monday at Amity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerald Craddock, chaplain Allen Ham of the Caswell Center and Douglas A. Gibbs will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a niece, Anita Fisher Fletcher and her husband, David, of Lake Landing; greatnieces, Lamarr F. Sallee and husband, Greg, of Chapel Hill and Molly Fletcher of Point Lavaca, Texas; great-greatnephew, Walker Sallee.
Miss Midyette was preceded in death by two sisters, Sallie Dixon Fisher, who was the wife of Sherrille Fisher, and Elsa Temple Midyette; four half brothers, John D. Midyette, Payne M. Midyette, Talbert Midyette and John T. Midyette; five half sisters, Leone M. Chapman, Gertrude M. Spencer, Isabelle M. Edgerton, Evelyn M. Gibbs and Sebie M. Hubbard.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Friends of Amity, 88 Sally Lane, Belhaven NC 27810 or Caswell Foundation, 2415 W. Vernon Avenue, Kinston NC 28501.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service on Sunday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and other times at the home of David and Anita Fletcher.
