Mr. David Wayne Alligood, 61, of 8798 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ with Jim Reid and Raymond Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Kenny Alligood, Jim Bunch, Gerrit Slade, Darrell Cooke, Michael Cooke, Larry Jefferson and Willie Jefferson will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2008, at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, and other time at the home.
Mr. Alligood was born September 23, 1946, in Beaufort County. On March 27, 1971, David married Thelma Jefferson, who preceded him in death on June 16, 2007. He was a retired electrician at PCS Phosphate with 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Roosevelt in southeast Asia during the Vietnam war. He was member of Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ.
Survivors include his parents, Willie and Catherine Pruitt of Washington; one son, Christopher Lee Alligood and his wife, Brittany Nicole, of Washington; three grandchildren, Christopher James Alligood, Gavin Wayne Alligood and Drake Thomas Alligood, all of Washington; and three sisters, Sharon Alligood Padgett and Sondra Alligood Cooke, both of Washington, and Cathy Alligood Slade of Bath.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Merril Jarvis Alligood, and one brother, Kenny Alligood.
