Mrs. Myrtle Cox Mooney

Mrs. Myrtle C. Mooney, 100, of 1719 Quarter Rd., Swan Quarter, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Cross Creek Health Care Center where she had been a patient.
Born in Fairfield, N.C., January 21, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Onetia G. Cox. Mrs. Mooney was married to Dallas Mooney who preceded her in death; she was a longtime member of the Fairfield Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Fairfield Chapter # 247.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the family plot in Fairfield Cemetery with Ray Everton officiating.
Surviving are: One daughter; Joyce M. Ballance and husband Allen of Fairfield. One son; Orville L. Mooney and wife Reba of Greenville. One sister; Geneva Keech of Plymouth. Four grandchildren; Darlene B. Carawan and husband Ted of Belhaven, Royce Ballance and wife Phyllis of Fairfield, Mitchell Ballance and wife Gwen of Fairfield and Kerry M. Cannon of Williamsburg, Va. Nine great-grandchildren; Sheiley Carawan, Daniel Carawan, Georgia Ballance, Madison Ballance, Alaina Binkley, Haley Ballance, Chelsea Ballance, Jack Cannon Jr. and Tony Cannon; two great-great-grandchildren; Alyssa Binkley and De’siree Binkley.
She was preceded in death by a stepson; Hubert Mooney, three brothers; Ralph Cox, Dave Cox, Thomas Cox and a step brother; Guy Cuthrell, a step sister; Inez Williams.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield Christian Church, P.O. Box 7, Fairfield, NC 27826.
