Mr. Joseph Aroy Arnold, 96, of Creswell, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnes family cemetery.
Mr. Arnold was born in Washington County on Jan. 3, 1912. He was the son of the late Andrew M. and Sarah Spruill Arnold. He was preceded in death by his wives, Ida Barnes Arnold and Dorcas Arnold. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Cabin Swamp Church of Christ.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Elva R. Basnight of Columbia; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret A. Cooper; one brother, Tom Ambrose; two sisters, Pearl Alexander and Lillian A.B. Phelps and one great-granddaughter, Beverly Equils.
The family will receive friends today from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
