Clement Wright Reiniger

Memorial services will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church (Chapel) for Clement Wright Reiniger on Sunday, January 27th at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Reiniger passed away at “Britthaven of Washington” on November 25, 2007 after a long illness.
He was the son of Lt. Col. Gustavus George Reiniger and Anne Wright Huske; Grandson of Clement Wright Huske and Alice Haigh. He descends from Sir Charles Haigh, Abingdon, Berkshire, and his son, Alexander Haigh, who represented his father’s interests in the Carolina colonies because of a proprietorship established by Charles the 2nd in 1661.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Catherine E. L. Liverett; His daughters Diana Clopton of Washington, D.C., Annie Holleb of Santa Monica, Ca., and his stepdaughter, Magdalin McNeil of Albuquerque, NM; son Dirk Reiniger of Olney, Maryland; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and his brother Scott Hale Reiniger of Greenfield, Mass. His eldest brother Haigh McDiarmid Reiniger passed away April 11, 2004 in Aiken, SC. A daughter, Claire, passed away in 2005.
Mr. Reiniger was educated at various academies and schools, including Avon Old Farms Prep (CT), class of 1943; Sullivan’s Military Prep (FL.); US Military Academy, West Point, NY (class of ’47). Trained at West Point as an engineer, he worked in the aero-space missile systems and defense weapon industry for most of his professional life. He did early research in human systems in space, establishing a human systems development program for space missions; Presenting the program to the White House for consideration (1957), seven months before Sputnik. He established Space Flight, Inc., in 1957.
Mr. Reiniger, a Patriot, lived by the West Point motto “Duty, Honor, Country.” He died as he lived, quietly and with grace, causing as few problems as possible for those he loved, and all those about him.
