Mr. Maurice Ray Bridgeman, age 74, a resident of 2039 Slatestone Road, Washington, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Beaufort County Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery with Derik Davis officiating.
Mr. Bridgeman was born in Beaufort County on May 20, 1933. He was the son of the late Jay Bridgeman and Olive Whitley Bridgeman. Mr. Bridgeman served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Weyerhaeuser as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Bridgeman was a member of the American Legion.
On July 12, 1958, Mr. Bridgeman married the former Deborah Virginia Lilley, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Nelson Bridgeman and Austin Bridgeman both of Washington; a daughter, Sandi Taylor of Washington; a sister, Geraldine Warren of Washington; two brothers, Kenneth Bridgeman and Robert Bridgeman both of Washington; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Bridgeman and a sister, Judith Bunn.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
