Mrs. Pauline Bateman Hollis, 80, of 2875 Fort Landing Road, Columbia, died Friday evening, January 25, 2008 at Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth.
Born in Tyrrell County, April 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Jordan L. and Edith Cahoon Bateman. She was married to Floyd W. Hollis who preceded her in death in 1979. She owned and operated the former Hollis Grovery for many years and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Her greatest love was her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Columbia. Pastor James Koo will officiate. Burial will follow in Soundside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Al Hollis and his wife, Tessi of Columbia; a daughter, Flora H. Patrick and her husband, Rudy of Columbia; a brother, Larry J. Bateman of Anaheim, California; a sister, Wanda B. Hooten of Norfolk, Va.; three grandchildren, Eric Brown, Paula Brown and William Hollis; two step-grandchildren, Tony Patrick and Phillip Patrick; four great grandchildren, Drew Brown, Shawn Holloway, Blake Holloway and Karli Hollis; a step-great-grandchild, Meredith Reynolds.
Mrs. Hollis was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ida Fay Hollis.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 168, Columbia, NC 27925.
The family is receiving friends at the home and Bryan Services’ Columbia Community Chapel is assisting the Hollis family.
