She often has one of the best seats in the house. Well, not that she does much sitting.
Laura Lee is more like a bundle of energy that can’t be contained.
After spending last year with the East Carolina Dance Team, the former Northside High School standout is now on the ECU all-girls cheerleading squad.
The pretty blond knows that it takes more than good looks and a love for the Pirates to be a college cheerleader.
Lee said once somebody makes a team, she has to consistently work hard to stay on the team.
Lee switched gears and decided to try out for the cheerleading team this year.
Lee and her teammates are still working at perfecting their routines.
Along with all that hard work on the field, Lee stays busy in the classroom. The science education major maintains a high GPA.
While Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium may be quiet at this time of year, Lee said the cheerleaders are working harder than ever. The team is preparing for a national competition in Myrtle Beach, which will be held in March.
Though it takes a huge time commitment, Lee said getting on that field and performing in front of a large crowd make it all worthwhile.
