Mr. James Ray Phelps, 79, of 5900 Harland Street, New Carrollton, Md., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 in Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James H. Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in the Phelps Family Cemetery in Creswell.
Mr. Phelps was born July 15, 1928 in Washington County, son of the late Jhonnie Mae Phelps and the late Linwood Fenner. He was a mechanical distributor.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby B. Phelps; two daughters, Carolyn Phelps of Maryland and Angela Phelps White of Ohio; one step-son, Thurston Bryant of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, L.J. Phelps of New Jersey, Sylvester Phelps of Maryland and William Phelps of Creswell; three sisters, Susie Horton of Maryland and Huldia Mae Phelps and Oressa Fuller, both of Creswell; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Rowsom Funeral Home of Columbia is serving the Phelps family.
