Mr. Ottis Brown Woolard, 80, a resident of the Old Ford community of Washington, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, with pastor Phillip Jethro and Eddie Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Troy Ball, Earl Rose, Ken Harris, Bobby Woolard, Melvin Woolard and Steve Griffin will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 8, 1927. He was the son of the late Johnnie Frank Woolard Sr. and Daisy Mae Woolard. On June 18, 1946, he married the former Fronie Lee Buck, who preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2008. He served in the Army during World War II. Following his military service, he was a farmer until his retirement.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara W. Rose of Macclesfield; one son, Grover Ray Woolard of Greenville; three brothers: Johnnie Frank Woolard Jr. of Largo, Fla., Robert Harold “Bobby” Woolard of Vanceboro and Melvin Taylor Woolard of Washington; three sisters, Oma Jay Harris, Carol Latham and Joyce Pipkin, all of Washington; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
