Mr. Arden “Gill” Gettel, 77, of Petersburgh, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Belhaven Community Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Joyner officiating.
Mr. Gettel was born in Lebanon, Pa., on Sept. 15, 1930. He was the son of the late John A. and Anna Fortna Gettel. He served in the Army for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was married to Sydney Martin Gettel, who preceded him in death Oct. 4, 2000. He worked as an electrician for the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he retired Oct. 1, 1992.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Petkov and Josephine Potocny, both of Lebanon, Pa.
He was preceded in death by Baby Gettel and one daughter, Janet Louise Gettel.
