Mrs. Marie Overton Williamson

Mrs. Marie Overton Williamson, age 92, a former resident of 237 N. 5th Street, Aurora, died Tuesday evening, January 29, 2008 at Britthaven of Washington.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday January 31, 2008 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Pastor Claude Nethercutt of Aurora United Methodist Church. A private interment will be held at a later date at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Williamson was born in Beaufort County on August 1, 1915, daughter of the late Charlie Jay Overton, Sr. and Alice Pauline Messick Overton. On March 17, 1936, she married Don Swain Williamson who preceded her in death on December 15, 1973. She and her husband were owners/operators of the Don Swain Williamson Seafood in Aurora. She was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and was an official board member for several years, a member of the United Methodist Women where she was active in the leadership by serving as President, Treasurer and always available to help others. Mrs. Williamson was an active member of the Alice E. Thompson Sunday School Class and was instrumental in naming this class.
She is survived by her children: Gene A. Williamson of Aurora, Buck Williamson and wife, Lala of Aurora, Alice W. Grissom and husband, Billy of Greenville, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers: Jimmy Overton and C.J. Overton, Jr.
The family will receive friends 1-1:45 on Thursday prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home in Washington.
