Mrs. Jean Wynn Cox , age 58, a resident of 447 Mimosa Shores Road, Washington, N.C. died Wednesday January 30, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church officiated by The Reverend Don Wiesner and The Reverend Kevin Johnson. Interment will follow in the St. Peter’s Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Cox was born in Florida on July 22, 1949 daughter of the late William James Wynn and daughter of Lanie Lucas Boyette Wynn, who survives. Mrs. Cox graduated from Ocracoke High School and East Carolina University with a BS in Elementary Education. On August 3, 1975 she married Mayhew Paul Cox, who also survives. She taught in the Beaufort County Schools retiring after 32 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Cox was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the P.O.E.T.S.
In addition to her mother and husband, Mrs. Cox is survived by two daughters; Lanie Boyette Cox of the home and Katie Brooks Cox of Washington, three brothers; Jim Wynn and wife Carolyn and Jon Wynn all of Ocracoke, N.C. and Paul Wynn and wife Joan of Greenville, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home located at 447 Mimosa Shores Road, Washington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, All Soul’s Fund, P.O. Box 985 Washington, NC 27889 or to the Friends of the Ocracoke Library, Ocracoke, NC 27960.
