Mr. Vannie Basnight Jr., 72, of 927 Railroad St., Columbia, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia, with the Rev. Lawrence Satchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Basnight was born in Tyrrell County on Oct. 24, 1935. He was the son of the late Fannie M. Spruill and Vannie Basnight Sr. He was married to Marilyn W. Basnight, who survives. He had been employed as a logger.
Survivors include three sons, Clifton Woodley of Mackeys, Harvey Woodley of Washington and Vannie Basnight of Williamston; four daughters, Frances Basnight, Rosa Burrus, Lucille Spencer and Marilyn McClease, all of Columbia; four brothers, Isiah Basnight of Columbia, Sinclair Basnight and Lawrener Basnight, both of New York, and Fred Basnight of South Carolina; one sister, Emma Spencer of Columbia; 31 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home, Columbia.
