Mr. Ted Louis Austin, 87, of 51 Mackeys Road, Plymouth, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry L. White Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Toodle’s Cemetery.
Mr. Austin was born in Gates County on Aug. 8, 1920. He was the son of the late Lucille Langston. He was an Army veteran and recipient of the European African Mid-Eastern ribbon with three bronze service stars. He was married to Neldia Mercer Austin, who survives. He was a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser and had worked as a cook at Washington County Hospital. He was a member of New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Zion T. Bowser of Baltimore, Md., Charlie Bowser of Wyandance, N.Y., and William Bowser of Hertford.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Toodle’s Funeral Home, Plymouth, and other times at the home. The body will be placed in the church two hours prior to the service.
