Joseph Franklin (Frank) Alexander

After a battle with cancer, Joseph Franklin (Frank) Alexander passed away January 26 2008 at his home near Austin Texas, surrounded by his family. Frank was born on March 3rd, 1941 in Edenton, N.C .to Alton and Elsie Alexander. After graduating from John A Holmes H.S. in 1962 he joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany and Texas and served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. Frank retired SSG from the Army at Ft Sam Houston Texas in 1981 and returned to North Carolina. Frank always wanted to go back to Texas so in 2001 he relocated to Austin Texas and became a life member of the MOC 33 and VFW Post 3377 in Manchaca, Texas.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Alton, and his eldest son, Christopher Leon. He is survived by his mother Elsie and stepfather James Walker of Columbia N.C.; wife Glenna of Austin, Texas; and children: Robert, wife Tammy, children Corey, Sarah, and Hannah Alexander of Virginia Beach, Va.; Karen, husband Andy and son Andrew Wende of Buda, Texas; Angela, husband Jeffery, and children Amber and Brett Lilley of Washington, N.C.; CJ, wife Alice, and daughter Virginia Tynch of Greenville, N.C.; stepdaughter Anne, husband Al and children Clair and Joe Ward of Edenton, N.C.; sisters Joan Pickell of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Bertha Martin of Winston Salem, N.C.. Memorial Service will be held Thursday February 21, 11:00 AM at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, NC.
