Ms. Ernestine Johnson, 67, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, N.Y.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Saint Lydia Baptist Church, Swan Quarter, with the Rev. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Johnson was born March 10, 1940, the daughter of the late Columbus and Viola Johnson. She attended the Hyde County Schools at Engelhard and graduated from Liberal Christian School in Bronx, N.Y. She further her education at Manhattan Community College, Hunter College, Lehman College and the Gibson School of Modeling and Charm, graduating on April 11, 1969. She was employed with the New York Board of Education as a counselor prior to her retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Myra Claggett of Portsmouth, Va., and Marion Johnson of Engelhard; three brothers, Pernell Johnson, Andrew Johnson and William Henry Johnson; goddaughter, Khaliah Johnson of Engelhard; and six brothers, Sammie Johnson of Engelhard, Columbus Johnson, Prentis Johnson and Bradley Johnson, all of Bronx, N.Y., John Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Busie Shelton of Fairbanks, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Marion Johnson, 36 Slocum Lane, Engelhard.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
