Mr. Robert Edward Moore, age 79, a resident of 362 Moore Lane, Bath, NC died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the home of his daughter Jade Harris located at 1827 Boyd Loop Road, Pinetown, NC.
A graveside funeral will be held 12 Noon Thursday February 21, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by Randy Moore. Pallbearers will be Jerol Berry, Vincent Berry, Glenn Cutler, David Harding, Brad Moore and Harris White. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Boyd, Onnie Boyd, Kenneth Cox, Preston Cutler, George Elliott IV, Mark Elliott, James Everett, Oscar Lilley, Alpheus Lewis, Horace Moore and Jasper Woolard.
Mr. Moore was born in Beaufort County on September 26, 1928, son of the late Willie Gray Moore and the late Lillian Mae Andrews Moore. He was a 1948 graduate of Bath High School. Mr. Moore married the former Doris Fae Woolard on October 23, 1948, who preceded him in death on March 17, 2005. He delivered newspapers for fifty years; was an avid hunter, fisherman and nature lover. His grandsons were the light of his life and he enjoyed showing them the world through his eyes. Mr. Moore was a member of Athens Chapel Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters: Jade H. Harris and her husband Edwin of Pinetown, Melanie D. Moore of Wilmington and Lael M. Pelt and her husband Jimmy of Blowing Rock; two brothers: Billy Moore and Kenneth A. Moore both of Bath; a sister: Rebecca Tyree of Bath; four grandsons: Rob Moore and his wife Jane of Winterville, Will T. Edwards II of Bardwell, KY, Chase K Edwards of Washington and James Pelt of Blowing Rock, NC and two great grandsons: Travis and Jackson Moore of Winterville. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by two sisters: Christine A. Moore and Pauline M. Berry.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday February 21, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington or other times at the home of Mr. Moore’s daughter, Jade Harris.
