Mrs. Mary Toler Boyd, age 84, a resident of Sterling House Assisted Living Center of Greenville and a former resident of Washington, NC died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Golden Living Nursing Center of Greenville.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Saturday February 23, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Greg Barmer. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Cameron Bowen, Billy Bowen, Curtis Toler, Fred Toler, Steve Toler, Cecil Allcox, Willie Williams, Whit Smith, Kevin Dougherty and Craig Dougherty will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on September 4, 1923, daughter of the late Linstead Edward Toler and the late Maggie Gray Canady Toler. After graduating from Beaufort County Schools, she married David Holmes Boyd on November 18, 1941 who preceded her in death on March 20, 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Washington.
Survivors include two sons: Tom Boyd and his wife Tomarie of Culpeper, VA and Jim Boyd and his wife Linda of Nags Head; two sisters: Sudie Brice of Grantsboro and Lois Dougherty of Chesapeake, VA; a sister-in-law: Alma B. Moore of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren: Tiffini Gregory of Beaverton, OR, David Boyd of Oakton, VA, Anjie Waters of Charlotte and Natalie Hallas of Denver, NC and five great grandchildren.
Flowers are welcome and appreciated or the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 113 Harvey Street, Washington, NC 27889.
