Mrs. Loretta Anderton Pruitt, 68, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in York Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 201 Tyson St., Greenville, with the Rev. Avery Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery in Greenville.
Mrs. Pruitt was born in Greenville on April 13, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Bernice Anderton Forbes and Fletcher L. Foust. She graduated from the Pitt County public schools. She was married to Oris E. Pruitt Sr., who preceded her in death. She had been employed as an educational aide. She was a member of York Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Greenville, where she served on many boards and auxiliaries.
Survivors include six children, Lynette Freeman of Belhaven, Jimelvia Martin of Eutawville, S.C., Johnsie Cogman of Accokeek, Md., Venetia Waters of Landgraff, the Netherlands, Oris Pruitt of Ellenwood, Ga., and Ronald Harris of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four brothers, Frederick Forbes of Baltimore, Md., Willis Anderton of Seattle, Wash., Lenard Foust of Columbia, Md., and Chancey Foust of Gaithersburg, Md.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
