Mr. Lewis “Ray” Paul Jr., 51, of 9656 NC Highway 99 South, Bath, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Clairs Church of Christ with Craig Hagen and John Ormond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Melvin Blake, John Brooks, Tim Oakes, Horace Miller, Joey Duke, Frank Smith, Duke Jennings and Stephen Cordon Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of St. Clairs Church of Christ.
Mr. Paul was born in Beaufort County on June 18, 1956. He was the son of Rosa Lee Foreman Paul of Bath and the late Lewis Ray Paul Sr. He was a 1975 graduate of the former Bath High School. He served in the Marine Corps. On July 31, 1982, he married the former Ann Marie Bowman, who survives. He was a site supervisor for Brooks Dry Wall Company of Greenville. He was the chaplain of the Good Sam Running Bears Camping Club. He was a member of St. Clairs Church of Christ, where he was an elder and a teacher of the Willing Workers Sunday school class.
Survivors include one daughter, Grace Marie Paul of the home; one son, Joseph Blake Paul of the home; one sister, Barbara P. Grant of Bath and one brother, Dal Paul of Palmetto, Ga.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Clairs Church of Christ Building Fund, 9814 N.C. Hwy. 99 South, Bath, NC 27808.
