John Earl Roberson

Mr. John Earl Roberson, 79, of 206 S. Park Ave., Williamston, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, in West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Roberson was born in Martin County on July 28, 1928. He was the son of John Alfred Roberson and Betty Wynne Roberson. On Dec. 15, 1945, he married Lucille Shaw Roberson, who survives. He was co-owner of Shaw’s Barbecue House. He retired from NC Power after 37 years of service. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, where he served as past deacon, past director training union, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher for the youth. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include wife, Lucille Shaw Roberson; daughter, Arnette R. Daniels of Mount Holly, N.C.; son, Ricky Roberson of Williamston; sisters, Sadie Harrison and Judie Boyd, both of Williamston; brothers, Alonza Roberson, Cavy Earl “Mack” Roberson, Daniel Ray “Zoogle” Roberson and Joe Roberson, all of Williamston; grandchildren, John David Ambrose, Kendal Shepherd, Alec Roberson and Kelby Roberson.
He was preceded in death by brothers, John “Bud” Roberson, Stoney Roberson, David Roberson and William Hank Roberson and sisters, Dorothy Roberson and Linda R. Lovick.
Flowers are accepted or memorials to a charity of one’s choice.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
