Frances Bryant Wolgamot

Frances Bryant Wolgamot, of Washington, N.C., died Friday March 14 2008 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born April 3, 1926 in Rich Square N.C., Frances grew up in Northampton County, and graduated from Rich Square High School. She attended Woman’s College at the University of North Carolina, and trained as a nurse at Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia, in the early 1940’s.
Frances married John R. Wolgamot, MD, on September 1, 1945. The couple moved to Philadelphia, and later settled in Moorestown, New Jersey, where Frances raised her family of five children and lived for forty years.
In 1990, Fran returned to her native North Carolina. She pursued her love of painting, books, friends, and family.
Fran was a woman of humor and strong convictions who influenced the lives of people in multiple generations. She was the matriarch of a large, closely knit family, who maintained close ties with her and one another despite being geographically dispersed across the United States.
Fran was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 1992. She is survived by her four daughters Paige, Beth, Ann and Robin, son John, and 11 grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington at 1 p.m.
