Thad Thomas “Tommy” Everson, 67, of Wilmington, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Washington, NC, the son of the late Leon E. and Margaret Woolard Everson.
Mr. Everson was an active charter member of Peace Baptist Church. He served his country as a member of the US Army. He was an electrician specializing in industrial controls and recently had retired from EWE Electrical Contractors. Tommy was a very talented man who designed and built custom wood furniture and had been a teacher at Cape Fear Technical Institute. He also was a songwriter, author of children’s books, and founded Everhope Publishing.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Velma Haddock Everson; two children, Tammy Allen and husband Drew of Hampstead, NC, Greg Everson and wife Kristine of Rocky Point, NC; six grandchildren, Dustin Allen, Brandy Allen, Mason Allen, Taylor Everson, Talon Allen, and Hailey Everson; three sisters, Peggy E. Black, Diana E. Woolard (Frayle), and Susie Everson, all of Washington, NC; one brother, David Wayne Everson (Debbie) of Castle Hayne, NC; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Feddie Haddock of Chocowinity, NC. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren as “Poppy.”
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 pm Monday, March 17, 2008 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Tuesday at Peace Baptist Church by Rev. Rudy Shepard. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead.
Pallbearers will be Edgar Allen, Mark Black, Jeffrey Woolard, David Dixon, Bryan Dixon, Matthew McCoy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Alligood, Michael Roncone, Phillip Hughes, Billy Eason Jr. and Bill Eason, Sr.
