Mr. Samuel Spencer of Andorra Drive, Hephzibah, Ga., died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Bicentennial Chapel, Ft. Gordon with CH(MAJ) Richard Green officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors.
Mr. Spencer, a native of Pantego, N.C., was a 1956 graduate of Beaufort County High School. After twenty seven years of service, he retired from the U.S. Army as master sergeant. His career included eight years at Eisenhower Medical Center as an NCOIC in the surgical department.
Survivors: His wife, Vestie S. Spencer of the home; one daughter, Sharon S. (Michael) Rollins of Germany; sisters, Verdie Griffin and husband, Charles Curtis, Brooklyn, N.Y., Marion Brooks and husband, Nelson of Parsippany, N.J., Mary Primus, Washington, N.C. Four brothers, Johnnie Spencer, Washington, N.C., William Jones and wife Clenestine of Pantego, N.C., Kenneth Spencer and wife Malinda of Dumfries, Va., James Saunders and wife Carol of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Devoted aunts, Lorena Mason, Flossie Moore, both of Pantego, N.C.; uncle, Webster Mason of Pantego, N.C. A host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
