Mary Gladys Pybus Seay, 81, formerly of Charleston, South Carolina, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Britthaven of Washington. She was born January 18, 1927, in Henry County, Alabama. She was the daughter of William Joseph Pybus and Esther Granberry Pybus.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Seay Turner and husband, Donald, of Aurora, North Carolina, and Deborah Seay Stephens of Lumberton, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Meredith Turner Cutler and husband, Casey, of Blounts Creek, N.C., Dawn Turner Earp and husband, Lee, of Raleigh, N.C., Joel Hamilton Stephens of Charlotte, N.C,. and William Hanson Stephens of Greensboro, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Marla Cole Cutler and Reed Collins Cutler; three brothers, J.B. Pybus and wife, Fran, of Thomasville, Georgia, Theophilus Pybus and wife, Jackie, of Dothan, Alabama, and Wimpy D. Pybus and wife, Doris, of Alexandria, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Dot Pybus, Martha Seay and Kathryn Seay of Dothan, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Seay was preceded in death by her husband, Hanson Seay; a brother, William Esto Pybus; and a son-in-law ,Richard Hamilton Stephens.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Washington, N.C., on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer Association, Eastern N.C. Chapter, 400 Oberline Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, NC 27605 or to Grace Lutheran Church, 1776 North Market Street, Washington, NC 27889.
