Mr. Melburn Franklin Kelly Sr., 69, a resident of 550 Oak Ridge Lane, Belhaven, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at his home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Kelly family cemetery, with pastor Bill Mobley and Medford Hopkins officiating.
Hank Stoop, Buddy Ward Webster, Bobby Cuthrell, Buddy Shavender, Tink Armstrong and Todd North will serve as pallbearers. Bill Kelly and Bill Rose will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Kelly, a lifelong resident of Beaufort County, was born March 20,1939. He was the son of the late James Denton Kelly and Bessie Modlin Kelly. On Aug. 24, 1962, he married the former Helen F. Howard, who survives. He was self-employed as a heavy-equipment operator in land development. He was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Nikki Foreman of Belhaven and Lori Morgan of Bath; one son, Melburn Franklin Kelly Jr. of Belhaven; one sister, Faye Shavender of Raleigh; two brothers, Kenneth Kelly of Greenville and Larry Kelly of Belhaven; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Kelly; one brother, Robert Kelly; and one grandson, John Lemuel Ross Nixon.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Hillside Funeral Service.
