Harold Kent Parker, 79, a resident of Plymouth, passed away early Sunday morning, April 6, at his home.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Plymouth.
Born in Wilson, N.C., Kent lived most of his life in Plymouth. He attended Edwards Military School in Salemburg, N.C. Upon completion of his education, Kent joined the US Army and served in Korea as part of the Topographical Engineering Corps. He was employed by Roanoke Farmers Exchange for 34 years.
Although Kent enjoyed many lifetime passions, including flying, fishing, gardening and love for the outdoors, he was happiest spending time with his family. He fell in love with the girl of his dreams 57 years ago. For nearly six decades, they continued to enjoy and discover each other.
An attentive father, Kent spent endless summer nights cheering his children on at the ballparks. Ever present at their events, Kent’s love for his family was evident to all.
Kent is survived by his wife, Patricia Harrison Parker; daughter, Hooleay of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; son, David of Hertford, N.C.; brothers, C.J. “Tobe” Parker of Washington, N.C. and Alton M. Parker of Burnett, Texas; sister, Marion Parker Harrell of Goldsboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Stephen Wayne Parker and Joshua David Parker.
The family will receive friends at the Parker home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at 105 Quail Drive, Plymouth.
