Mr. Jerry Thomas Riddick Jr., 96, of 106 Frederick Road, Chocowinity, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Temple of Jesus Christ United Church, Washington, with Elder Leroy Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Riddick was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 16, 1911. He was the son of the late Millie and Jerry Thomas Riddick Sr. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was married to Lillie Mae Windley Riddick, who preceded him in death. His employment was as a mill worker with various companies. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Washington.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Spencer of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sons, Jerry Thomas Riddick of New York, N.Y., Leroy Riddick of Washington, Allie Riddick of Chocowinity and Cleveland Rogers of Hampton, Va.; 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Toppins and one son, Jody Slade.
The family will receive friends today from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington, and other times at the home.
