Mrs. Ellen Gardner Simpson, 69, of 1441 Brown Road, Jamesville, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Martin General Hospital.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Poplar Chapel Church of Christ, with Ernie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Jamesville Cemetery.
Mrs. Simpson was born Oct. 7, 1938. Her parents were the late Mamie Mizelle and Herbert “Slim” Gardner. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Simpson was a member of Poplar Chapel Church of Christ. On Feb. 25, 1961, she married Dewey Simpson.
Survivors incude her husband, Dewey Simpson; a daughter, Janet Simpson of the home; a son, Dewey “Butch” Simpson of Jamesville; two sisters, Celia “Boots” Cotrain of Jamesville and Mary Ruth Smith of Salisbury; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at the church and other times at the residence, 1441 Brown Road, Jamesville.
