Mr. Rex Kent Singleton, 76, of 1089 Pineview Road, Williamston, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Biggs Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Wyly officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
Mr. Singleton was born in Martin County on March 11, 1932. He was the son of Perlie and Lydia Wilson Gardner. He was an Air Force veteran, retiring with 20 years of service. On Aug. 16, 1957, he married Gloria Polta Singleton, who survives. He had worked in residential construction with his father. He was a member of Williamston First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder and youth group leader.
Survivors include three daughters, Robin York of Manns Harbor, Lydia Ann Gurganus of Williamston, and Sherrie Swain of Washington; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wade Gardner of Williamston, and Gary Gardner of Windsor; and one sister, Sandra VanLandingham of Chesapeake, Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
