Mrs. India Viola Tatem Spruill, 86, of 929 Railroad St., Columbia, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia, with Elder Rodney Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Spruill was born in Tyrrell County on Sept. 21, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Alline Green and Haywood Tatem. She had been employed as a help care provider.
Survivors include six sons, Henry Spruill and Steve Spruill, both of Columbia, William Spruill of New York, Sylvester Spruill of Edenton, Mack Spruill of California and Michal Spruill of Nags Head; seven daughters, Edna Basnight, Linda Young, Lossie Leigh, Dollie Spruill and Mollie Spruill, all of Columbia, and Lucy Drummond and Teresa Alexander, both of Virginia; 47 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home, Columbia.
