Mrs. Bettie Hill McMullan of Washington died Sunday May 25, 2008.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating.
Mrs. McMullan was born on May 17, 1923, in Raleigh. She is the daughter of the late Gertrude Liipert Hill and William Landon Hill. She attended Peace and St. Mary’s schools, as well as, Salem College.
On June 9, 1948 she married James Baugham McMullan and moved to Washington in 1950, where she became active in the formation of the Beaufort County Arts Council and the Stratford Book Club.
Survivors include her husband, James B. McMullan; one son, Landon H. McMullan; one daughter, Elizabeth M. Rollyson; two grandchildren, Stephen Rollyson and Hannah McMullan; one great-granddaughter, Helen E. Rollyson.
Mrs. McMullan was preceded in death by one son, James B. McMullan, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the McMullan home at 729 Short Drive, Washington from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
