Mrs. Callie Marie Copeland Peele, 88, a resident of the 1700 block of Rocky Hock Landing Road, Edenton, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Chowan Hospital.
A celebration of Mrs. Peele’s life will be held at 2 p.m. today in Rocky Hock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. James Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Peele was the daughter of the late Callie Ward and Herbert Copeland. She was the widow of Charlie E. Peele. She was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, where she was involved with the Bertha Dail Circle, the Bertha Dail Sunday School Class and the Young At Heart adult Bible-study group.
Survivors include three sons, Clark Peele of Pantego, Tom Peele of Henderson and Jerry Peele of Edenton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Peele was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Copeland and Dorus Copeland.
The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Evans Funerals and Cremations, Edenton. The family will receive friends at the home of Jerry Peele, 1722 Rocky Hock Landing Road, at other times.
