Mrs. Janie Rebecca Felton Owens, 88, of 304 S. Broad St., Columbia, died Friday, May 30, 2008, at Chowan Hospital in Edenton.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia, with the Rev. Lawrence Satchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Owens was born in Perquimans County on Aug. 16, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Louvenia White and Lemuel Felton. She had been employed as a teacher in the Tyrrell County Schools. She was a widow.
Survivors include two sons, Wallace N. Owens of Plymouth, and Alban L. Owens of Columbia; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
